Retirement Mentality

For my coworker 54, retirement

is for "old people" and since he does not think of himself as "old" it simply does not compute.

I explained I always thought it was for "rich people" or "people who planned ahead" but he just seemed puzzled. . .

Can retirees still try to move up?

By growing their portfolio, for example. :D

Absolutely! There are all kinds of upward bound things you can do. Grow your portfolio. Grow your leisure time. Grow your cooking skills. Grow your volunteer work. Etc., Etc.

What I mean is many people are in a box, and they only want to move up in that box. The video above describes it well with the little moneybag teaser moving up the floors of the insurance company. Many people can't see a way out of the box, the building. Their only "up" is another floor in the same building.

That too!
