Sense of Time - Working vs. Retired

I find that time goes by so much quicker now retired, compared to working. The weekdays just fly by, and suddenly, it's another weekend! Has the calendar changed, more weekENDS, and less weekDAYS?

Working people would probably like to strangle me for saying that..... but its true for me now!

The work week used to just crraaawwwwl by. Now it goes by so fast! Unless I have some important event to need to remember the date, I now click the date on the PC to see what numerical date it is. And the numbers are speeding by!

So how is Time behaving by you?

I have had the same experience. I am usually amazed when another Saturday rolls around. My first year of retirement just flew by. I guess the old saying really is true, time does fly when you are having fun. I have found myself taking better care of my health than I used to so that I can have more time to enjoy. So far, retirement agrees with me.

Hi Telly. Honestly, I don't notice any difference in my
sense of time passing now vs. working. Maybe this is
because I was very busy working and now I am busy having fun.
Remember as a kid when doing nothing was doing something? I have returned to that blissful state.
Also, I seldom felt that time was dragging when I was
working. This may be because I mainly worked for myself at the end of my career. As a textbook
workaholic I mostly had the feeling that there never
were enough hours, no matter how hard I was working.
Now I work hard at not working .

I am in complete agreement with johngalt that time before and after retirement goes by very quickly. Before retirement, the job was very intense and time just flew by. The last 10 years of my work life were a complete blur.

Now I'm in my forth year of retirement and I can't believe how fast it has gone by. The best part is that now I'm doing what I want to do, when I want to do it. I just enjoy dabbling in a lot of different things all the time. The difference is, I can take the time to "smell the coffee"......

It's a wonderful life!

I have just completed my first year. Originally, I found that I looked forward to weekdays instead of weekends. During the week the stores are open, traffic is minimal (except for the rush hours) and there are no crowds. I would say to myself Thank God it's Monday! I don't notice the difference that much any more. Crowds are novelties now.

I live in a semi-rural area. It could be different closer to big cities.

In any event I am loving it and having lot's of fun. Time passes quickly.
