I visited Sri Lanka a few years back and ran into a group of expats that retired in the vicinity of Kandy, all were located near the golf course / country club outside of town. Of course most had taken local wives as well. The cost of living was low and they all lived very well.
I like your plan !

Welcome to the site. My brother used to live in Grantham, just before he emigrated to Australia.

I remember the great British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey) moved from the UK to Sri Lanka. He said he couldn't stand the damp, cold, cloudy British weather anymore, and loved the warm, lush climate of Sri Lanka the rest of his life. (Just a side note.)
