Hi, new and almost ER
We started in 86 doing the steps of Your Money or Your Life, even though we never read it. We have records for 20 years of frugal living and working. Use a diversified portfolio and asset allocation with hard core savings each and every year.
I bless the day we saw the light and saved for ER and paid off all debt.

Now that we are there, perhaps we should read the book? Time to do stuff we want for a change of pace.
Welcome aboard!

If this means you kept 20 years of detailed records, I'd rather
be dead. But.............that's just me.

Re: Hi, new and almost ER
Congrats!
For me YMYL ideas and tracking expenses with great detail has also worked fine.
I love to know where my money goes to and to make sure that I get enough value from spending it.
I gave away some of my lifetime to earn it, so I want to see a good return of investment. The best ROI comes as fun.

Welcome. You have a mighty sweet plan that has obviously worked for you. As Occams Razor says "The simpler the explanation, the more likley it is to be correct."
