I have been FI for some time and wanting to get laid off. This entitles me to 6 months pay, heath insurance and stock option continuation. The only problem was how to get a package when the company is not laying off?
I mentioned to my manager if I could work from home 1/day a week. Siting that my work place was very distractive and non-productive. He said no - what got to me is that other people in my work group are doing it. Well I said then I will have to find another job.
Bingo - I now get to look for another job within my company till January and then get all the above benifits. After that 30 weeks of un-employment.
I guess the lesson here is that you have to know how to play the system.
