Hi everyone, I read the ERE book and then I've been following the forum for a while because I saw something different than the other financial forums and blogs. I'm not digging out of debt because I've always lived below my means, thankfully.

Yes, I'm very interested in retirement in the sense that I don't want to deal with the rat race anymore. Well guess what? I found myself suddenly out of a job.

The good news is that I am excited about the future more than ever! Yes, I could try to find another job but there are other opportunities that could prepare me even better for the future on my own terms. I'm so excited about my lifestyle change and look forward to reading about your adventures too.

Welcome, KiraC.

Sorry to hear you lost your job unexpectedly. Sounds like you've got a great attitude. And as you've been LBYM, I hope your future's so bright you gotta wear shades!

Welcome. Sometimes something really good can come out of a setback. It sounds like you have the personality to make that happen.

As sad as sudden job loss is, if someone is well prepared it can be a blessing in disguise.
And help to avoid the "one more year" syndrome...
All the best to you!

Welcome Kira!!

You will not regret joining here, I know I have learned a great deal.
When one door closes, another opens. We look forward to hearing about how great that new door will be for you!

KiraC, welcome to the forum. Sorry about your unexpected job loss, but your positive outlook is amazing and surely will help you find your way.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I'm almost a month into this new world and I have to admit I'm really enjoying it. I've been learning about investing so I can generate a regular income in the future. I look forward to digging into that forum here.

I've also had time to focus with my online crafting business. While that doesn't generate much income for the time involved, I do now have time make my crafts which is good.

I did read something on ERE that retirement may not really be retirement if you are working for yourself. I guess if I'm doing what I want on my own terms and making it work for me, then I can call it retirement if I want.

...off to read the other forums :)
