The coffee farmers down the road...

Well, if that road is "Mamalahoa Highway" on the Big Island of Hawaii.

I retired a few years ago at 50. And my wife is joining me this year.

We have a coffee farm. We're building AirBnB's on it for people who would like to stay on a coffee farm.

And we're a mile from the Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay.

I assume we have a fairly standard story -- high-level bootstrapping while spending next to nothing. And then cash out and move to paradise.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post any links to the farm. So if that turns out to be OK, I will.

I would like to protest that the "confused about dryer sheets" up there next to my name is unfair.

1) I understand the reference.
2) I have never owned a dryer. Ridiculous waste of resources and money.
3) I have never used a dryer sheet, let alone cut one in half.

It would be more fair to put "President of the Anti-Dryer Sheet League" to my name.

Aloha, my place is 10 miles from Paradise, that's Paradise Arizona. Traveled the Mamalahoa Hwy, best stop was Punaluʻu Beach and visiting the black sand sea turtles. Been to most of the islands including Moloka‘i, but Captain Cook cove is primo snorkeling.

I didn't see a place for a website -- interests and bio. But not "here's my business -- clicky clicky!"

I have also joined his church. We are members of the World Confederation of Solar and Wind-Powered Dryers, aka the Sect of Sheetlessness.

Sorry, I forgot that new members aren't allowed to post links for a while. That field will show up eventually, so just check it now and then.

Just keep posting, and you'll soon get a new subscript.

You can put anything you like in your signature line.

I don't seem to have the signature line functionality, either.

Hello, and welcome from another Hawaiian coffee farmer! Lol.

Actually, I just pick the Red Bourbon and Catura cherries and give them to a guy who roasts them. He actually won the Hawaiian cupping competition last year.

Where are you located?

We did quite well in the annual Kona Cupping Competition with our first harvest. (And the first harvest for this farm since the 1970s.)

I'm growing Kona Typica. Most of the plants are between 50-100 years old.

I just bought a coffee pulper from someone in Makawao. He's shipping it over with Young Brothers this week. It would be quite the coincidence if I bought it from you.

Welcome Scoop. I think a link in your signature would be nifty, myself.
We have many fond memories of right where you are at. DA and DU had a share at the Kona Coast and we went there many times with them.
We'd start around the island with pie or a sandwich at the shack.
