Thinking of retiring in 2020

Hi I am Pat and I am thinking of retiring in 2022. I know I have enough $$ just wonder how people use the extra hours in the week.

I have four hobbies and will be 60 when I retire. I will retire one day after my birthday.

Thanks.

Welcome!
How you use your time is entirely up to you. That's the wonderful thing about retirement--your choice to do what ever you want every day!
The first few weeks or months may just be vegging out and de stressing, or not.
Ernie Zelinski book "How to retire happy , wild, and carefree' has an exercise "get a life" tree that can help with thinking about what you want to do/accomplish.

Hope to hear more from you on this journey.

Congrats.
It sounds like 4 hobbies should be more than enough to keep you busy. I am busy every day without 4 hobbies.
Time is even more important than monies, especially if one has enough monies.

Thanks for the quick response. I started thinking of retiring about two years ago and after looking over my finances wondered what I was waiting for. I will look into that book.

Welcome, Pat! I just FIRED at 55, a couple of months ago. I'm in a new house, and am doing a lot of home improvement projects, building a lot of shelving units, exercising more, sleeping in a lot, taking naps when I feel like it, watching birds, going to the beach, reading a bit, keeping up with the financial stuff, working on cooking and cleaning, and going to a surprisingly high number of doctor's appointments. I really don't know how I had time for work before! It's a much easier transition (once you've done it) than you'd imagine!

Thanks. I attended a retirement seminar and they emphasized that you need hobbies and other activities or it will not go well.

I hope the seminar was free. That's what it was worth.

Yes! it was free. Luckily some of the seminars were useful including what to put in your will and what to keep out.
