I'm 56 with 31+ years at my employer, 900K in various 401K/IRA, $40/month retiree medical until medicare and $2600/month pension. DW is five years younger with a rewarding job that pays $67K/year. House is ~650K with $210K left on the mortgage.

Voluntary layoff option is likely coming, in regular times I'd be in but these aren't regular times. If I stay at my job I have a secure position for as long as I want it. But...I'm done...if you know what I mean.
House (2700SF) is too big for us so when DW decides to quit we'll sell and move someplace less taxing (Puget Sound ain't cheap, but it's awesome).

Tea leaves say? I'm concerned that inflation will whittle my nest egg away and I'll end up eating gruel and regretting retiring early.

Wisdom?

It all depends on how much you need to live on. If you need $25k a year you're golden... if you need $250k a year then you don't have near enough.
