We started the ER ball rolling!

For better or for worse, we initiated the process! We're aiming for June 30th and just wanted to give 2 weeks notice. But the only health insurance DH could get is a HIPAA conversion, which requires that you get a letter from the employer that you are currently insured and when that insurance will stop. So in order for DH's employer to say that his company insurance will stop June 30th, he has to alert them of his intentions. He is bringing in his letter of resignation today, saying it is contingent upon his getting the insurance.

This wasn't how we wanted to do it---it feels uncomfortable and has some potential for retailiation, even firing, to give six weeks notice, but have no choice. We are not ones to take a risk, but we do think we need to retire to maintain physical health and emotional sanity.

So---wish us luck!

Tango, I'm jealous! Best of luck. I hope the resignation and insurance stuff all works out fine. Be sure to fill us in on how things go.

Re: We started the ER ball rolling!

Congratulations!!!! I'm 10 days and counting, (one is a holiday ) I gave 3 1/2 weeks notice and it;s been quite a strange experience. To my peers and other people in the prganization, I am a folk hero. To the executive staff it's a strange mix of being ignored in public to subtle hostility in meetings.

There is light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!

Well, you're gonna have to cut that out. Stay in the privacy of your cubicle and don't go to any more meetings...
