Accidently discovered this a few years ago. The theme to "I Dream of Jeanie" is a perfect mind eraser. It actually gets rid of persistant song melodies and lyrics and then fades away on its own. Try it in a group. Usually results in a fun group "hum" with the only side effect is at least one person physically acting out the drum bom.bom.bom.bom.

Afternoon Delight was the worst song in history!! :D
Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been 'when it's right, it's right'
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night?
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
And we know the night is always gonna be there any way

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
A little afternoon delight
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Please be waiting for me, baby, when I come around
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Afternoon delight!

How about "Undercover Angel" or "I Wanna Kiss You All Over" ::)

Really cringe worthy---both of 'em. Or anything Donny and Marie.

Yeah, but then you've got the frickin tune to "I dream of jeanie" stuck in your head!

NO LEO SAYER PHOTO POSTINGS WILL BE TOLERATED WITHOUT SERIOUS REPERCUSSIONS!

Donny and Marie. That I hadnt thought about either of them in decades is proof of the minds ability to heal itself from exposure to hideous things... ;)

:D You knew someone would take the bait!

Geez, you weren't kidding.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the Boise Holiday Inn! Tonight, in the E-motions lounge, we feature an artist you'll all remember. Give a warm Idaho welcome to Mister Leo Sayer!"

I came to a similar conclusion! The key is to use some song which was stuck in your head at some point in the past (for me it's "The Bird Song"). You substitute that one for the one that's stuck, and, because you've already vanquished the old one, it fades away.

Them's fight'n words around here. :bat:

At least that is what I am told. The Osmonds are still quite a cause celeb here in Happy Valley. ::)

Geeez, Leo's gotten long in the tooth, hasn't he (refering to the 2nd pic)?  :p

Havent we all? ;)

I wish a lot of the rock/pop star heroes of my childhood would frickin retire so I dont have to see a bunch of guys almost as old as my dad hopping around with big poofy dyed hair and all that wrinkly **** flapping around.

Mother of God, there is a song worse than William Shatner's rendition of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"
