A horrible few days for Chelsea (football (soccer))

Probably not the best place to expect any interest but since this is my favorite forum, I thought Id add a little football (soccer) to the posts.

now for the sobbing..

just a few weeks ago I had dreams of a Chelsea EPL championship and the UEFA cup... and after just 4 days the cup is gone and the championship is basically out of reach. And to make matters worse Manchester could take both!

So there you have my hook- to try and bring out some of you football fans.

Well, my soft spot's for the Rangers, but I also pretty much root for anyone south of the border who has a shot at giving Manchester the thrashing they generally deserve. My Sympathies...

My uncle is a big Liverpool fan and he was ecstatic. Chelsea brought this on themselves in todays game atleast. Very little attcking and in the 2nd half they had very few runs at the goal. Also having a single striker and noone who is a really good playmaker(like Ronaldo for ManU) really put them in a bad spot.

p.s: I am a ManU fan because of Cantona, but don't like them as much now. Too many thugs on the team, so I root for Liverpool sometimes.(I know that's a big no-no but I hate Rooney & Cristinao Ronaldo even though he is good)

I kind of 'picked' Chelsea since I lived there when I was in London... I did not have a 'team' and most of the people at work were for 'the Red'... I had to listen to them talk about all they were winning (back in 2000)... IIRC, they won some cup, the league and I think did well in the Champions league..

I had a hard time understanding all the 'things' they were playing for... someone told me they don't try to win the cup if they are doing well in the other competitions...

Never got anybody interested in getting to a game, so I was a bit dissappointed in that...

Also was not able to get them interested in watching a cricket match... there was once we were planning on going to a test, but the game was over before the FOURTH day... I think they just liked looking at the highlights and seeing the stats... 200 for 4 etc...

The year I lived in Scotland the UK was playing for the Ashes (lost abysmally IIRC)--and by the end I figured out the rules--well, sort of anyway...

And how the heck did the Ashes tournament come about anyway? Always struck me as a bar bet gone horribly awry...

When I was in the UK for a few years I lived in Watford. Great drinking, singing and the like, they even kicked the ball around a little. Good fun for a Yank who can't figure out exactly what an offside really is.

It's amazing what you can learn around here. guess I could have just checked wikipedia, but this is more fun/easier.

i can take some solace in Manchester's resounding defeat at the hands of the italians.

now for a small miracle in the EPL.
