Columbo (after Star Trek, OBV).
Do you know he played that role for 36 years?
Recently watched the pilot from 1968. Sooooo young. Not quite developed as a character yet, leaner and meaner. No trenchcoat.
Last one was in 2003.

Two series to add... not drama or comedy, but music. Both currently in re-runs.

Lawrence Welk (PBS) Lawrence Who?
Hee Haw (RFD TV) I love this show... there are some full episodes on YouTube.

Reminds me of the first episode of "Bonanza"--the four Cartwrights were caricatures of what they soon evolved to become during the first season. Or the first season of "The Andy Griffith Show": Andy had a thicker Southern drawl and played for laughs. He said in later interviews that by the second season he realized he should play Andy to be the straight man who is surrounded by funny characters. And, by then, he had softened his drawl considerably.

My favorites by decade. Based on quality, "must see-ness" and consistency to the end.

70's - Barney Miller, All In The Family
80's - Crime Story
90's - Seinfeld, Homicide
00's - Cold Case, Justified
10's - Game of Thrones, Fargo

Shows that had their day but I lost interest over time: Soap, Two And A Half Men and Big Bang Theory.

I remember my grandmother watching the Lawrence Welk show. She sat in her rocker smiling ear to ear during every show.

Wings or Cheers for comedy.

The Unit or Hill Street Blues for action/drama.

I could probably come up with totally different choices tomorrow.

We love Midsomer Murders (although it's not my all-time favorite). I'm all-time favorite is Saving Grace.
