Re: Another poll for the Gals
DW is incredibly tolerant (a necessary quality in my case), but there is actually one time she forbade me to buy a T-shirt at the local state fair.
It said "hooked on ebonics--just axe me about it"
She worked at the Dept. of Ed as a reading specialist and was not thrilled to have folks see me about the town in it.
Oh well, sometimes in marriage one must make compromises....
but she tolerates my "the liver is evil--it must be punished" shirt...

Re: Another poll for the Gals
Lately, DH has cut down the number of goofy T-shirts he wears. The two most common are, "I'm sorry, my fault. I forgot you're an idiot." And "I am a programor. I am a proggramer. I am a programar. I write code."
It's his choice to wear them, not mine. And since he didn't spend any of our ER money on them (both were gifts, from different people), I don't have anything to complain about.
I figure since he's practically perfect in every important way, his questionable taste in T-shirts is not worth mentioning.

Not worth mentioning, you say? Well, maybe not to him. However, it seems to have been worth mentioning to the 2500+ readers of this forum.

I buy my husband shirts that say "Geek" and "Chick magnet" and stuff. He's smart enough not to buy his own shirts with sayings unless he has my ok.

Re: Another poll for the Gals
My husband wore nothing but black Harley advertizements t-shirts for the longest time. I don't mind, he will dress up when required. But one day he had the drawer open trying to decided what shirt to wear. My comment was "Oh gosh, which "black" t-shirt should I wear today" in that tone he knows so well. He gave me that look of - she just made fun of me but I have no good comeback since she's right. Since then he's never bought another black adertizement t-shirt. He also knows there are just some I won't tolerate, such as - If you can read this the b itch fell off.

S.O. hates anything with words on it - advertising, free race teeshirts, cute slogans, not even a little alligator or polo pony is acceptable. I guess I can't answer this one.

I never thought of it that way, since I like geeks, but it might have some sort of effect. He has another one that says "The dog did it."

Re: Another poll for the Gals
Hey, Gumby, do you still have any of your official USNA blue-ring t-shirts?
They're good for instant nausea around our household, but they also make great rags so it's a tough choice. I still have the hoodie sweatshirt but the years have not been kind to it.
I'm hoping the kid decides to buy a couple when she tours USNA. It'd even be worth paying for them to watch the effect on her mother...

Re: Another poll for the Gals
DW doesn't have to put up with me wearing them, however, she does have to put up with my sense of humor on Tori's clothes. My favorite "onesies":
"Daddy Drinks because I cry"
"Princess" with Princess Lea Pic.
"Who's your Father" with Darth Vader Pic.
They crack me up every time!

Re: Another poll for the Gals
Sorry to hijack a ladies' thread. Punish me! Punish me! But since I am here...
My favorites:
"Quilter's Hero".........Sweet wife bought it for me at a quilt show.
"Richland High--Proud of the Cloud" (see my avatar)....I never went there, but when I saw the T-shirt on a guy in a grocery store, HAD TO HAVE IT!! Took me a year to get the high school to sell me one. Very un-PC. In-your-face, butt-kickin' American high school hubris. Have to be careful where I wear it.
"OLD ARMY"...my kids had it made for me at a music festival on Point Roberts, WA, several years ago. When I wear it, somebody always smiles and says, "Great shirt!"--usually at Home Depot. (OK, geographers: Where is Point Roberts and why is it special?)
"Will the last person to leave Uranium City please turn out the lights?" Geographers: Where is it? (Hint: the fishing is outta sight!)
AltaEd
(Sorry, Red. )

Alex, for $5, Point Roberts is in Washington, but since it is a peninsula off the BC mainland, it is only reachable through Canada.
And by the way, the only T-shirt with words I will wear around a woman would be "Drink to me only with thine eyes,
And I will pledge thee mine." I am not suicidal.
I did however make a shirt for my sister that said--"I found these jugs at Shi-Shi Beach" back when Japanese fishing floats were all the rage on NW beaches.
Ha

I know! *I know! *It is a peninsula hanging down from a piece of Canada, and it is unique because it is not geographically connected to the US mainland - you have to go up through Canada to get to it.
(OK that wasn't a very succinct explanation because I've had two strawberry margaritas...but I think you get the point)

Re: Another poll for the Gals
Two for two!
Pt. Bob is a funny little place. Mostly Canadian vacation homes, but a number of residents. The kids have to be bussed across the border TWICE EACH WAY to go to school in Washington. Go there for the music festival in the summer and enjoy the beach.
Now, does anyone know where Uranium City is?
Now back to our regularly scheduled program....
For sure, there are some really gross T-shirts out there, on guys mostly. Not my style.
Ladies, back to you.
Ed

Re: Another poll for the Gals
Uranium City?? Nope.
But my BIL mining engineer had bad days at black rock - in Uravan, CO and Eagle Rock, CA(near Desert Center). Visited both - once.
No T shirts that I know of though.
Currently mining sand for wine bottles - somewhere near Kent, WA.
Ordered a T shirt for my 45th high school reunion this year out in WA.
heh heh heh heh
