I picked up a couple muzzleloaders because I think those are the only deer and elk tags I will be able to get, but I have actually had a ton of fun shooting these things at the range. I can't seem to find real black powder locally, so I have been shooting substitutes (mostly Black MZ). Cast my own conicals and round balls for a .50 TC Hawken and a .54 TC Grey Hawk (stainless New Englander). Looking forward to the muzzleloader season in September, but having lots of fun in the meantime. I actually just ordered some real black online to try it as well.

Ever since I was 20. I'm partial to 50 cal patched ball with about 70 grains of black. Very accurate in my TC New Englander
