I am looking for a mobile plan with text, calling and maybe up to 5gb of data for a reasonable price. I know this has probably been hashed over a couple of times, so redirect me if it is on the board. I need something with good coverage area, prepaid, good service. any recommenations? thanks

Is visible the one that’s actually Verizon only cheaper?

Look at Redpocket mobile annual plans.
Amounts to $18/month with 8GB of data and you can choose your network.

I've been with Tello using T-Mobile towers for 4 years now and it's a great service including FREE International calling to over 60 countries using plan minutes, hotspot and free unlimited texting with all plans.
No contract month to month service, build your own plan to suit or use one of theirs and you can manually renew each month to keep your leftover data and minutes.
Right now they are offering 25% discount off every plan for the first 6 months ( don't manually renew this deal or you will lose special pricing)
So if T-Mobile is good in your area, check them out and if interested PM me for a $10 new customer activation code which will be applied to your account after you pay your first months service.

We’ve been on Visible for one year now. Two iPhones @ $25/month each. Service has been acceptable with some deprioritization in busy areas. Coverage in rural areas has been very good. We use wifi calling at home and the mobile hotspot when traveling. It’s not as good all the time as I’d like, but for the price it’s a decent value. They recently added calling to Canada and Mexico no extra cost, and support for the cellular Apple watch for $5/month. We’ll keep it until motivated to try something else.

Just got our Google Fi bill.

2 phone lines, unlimited talk and text $35
1.48GB of data used $14.80 (only pay for what we use)
Taxes and Regulatory Fees $9.42

Super international coverage if you need it. https://fi.google.com/about/international-rates

I also have a "phone subscription" at $9/month. This is for a Pixel 4a 2-year subscription. After 2 years I keep the phone for free and they "renew" me with a new phone. The arithmetic is compelling: New phone for $216 less what I can sell it for. This is the first time I have even considered getting a phone through a carrier. https://fi.google.com/about/phone-subscription

For reference, Verizon shared 10GB data plan, phone and text is about $125 per month.

We lost our overage monster, so one thing solved. Now the phones are long in the tooth (iPhone 7 and Pixel 3) and we'll probably move into GoogleFi or Visible, etc.

Nice to hear about new offerings, and how well they work. We use less than a GB of data between two lines now.

We have used airvoice wireless, an AT&T MVNO for years. We have to have AT&T because no Verizon or T-Mobile coverage at our summer home... even AT&T is marginal.

We don't need as much data as you so we are on their Unlimited Talk & Text and 3G data plan that is $18/month with autopay.

They have other plans with Unlimited Talk & Text and 6GB and 15GB of data for $27/mo and $45/mo, respectively.

Keep in mind that the way they do it 1/2 of your data allotment is high speed (4G ) and the remainder is 3G.... so if you really need 5GB of high speed data then you would want the 15GB plan. You could always start with the 6GB plan for $27/mo and then upgrade with a simple phone call if you find 3GB of high speed data and 3GB of lower speed data to be inadequate.

I use Verizon’s pre-paid plan with 5gb of data and currently pay $25 + taxes (total=$28.13) per month. It starts out at $40 per month, but the reduce it by $5 if you sign up for autopay. Then after 3 months, they reduce it $5 more per month as a loyalty incentive. Then after 9 months, they reduce it another $5 per month as another loyalty incentive. I’ve never used the 5gb of data in one month. If I ever do, they don’t cut you off. They just reduce your download speed.

I tried T-Mobile based carriers (Mint), but in my area, the coverage was just not there. Multiple dropped calls. In my area, Verizon has the strongest coverage.

We have had Visible for a few years now. $25/line since we’re in a group with our two nieces. No complaints for the price, though we’re going to Europe and it won’t work there. I guess we’ll research temporary SIM cards or something.
