I recently got to try out a Vespa Piaggio MP3 500 and have been wondering if this might be an interesting way to get around town. Does anyone have any experience with one?

Really good. Nice and stable, good on uneven surfaces and has a top speed around 80 mph. It's not really cheap - the base model is about 7K, but it was fun and felt substantial.

In past years, I've had a tiny Honda scooter and long ago, a dirt bike. The Honda had really small wheels and in my estimation was a disaster waiting to happen, very unstable on wet pavement.

This thing is a hybrid and the fuel economy is a draw here are the specs Piaggio USA

That is one uh... interesting looking scoot, but it sure looks like fun.

While you're at it, check out the [SIZE=-1]Burgman. Even as a former big motorcycle owner, this looks like fun.

From purely a cost perspective, I'd think a small motorcycle would be cheaper and more versatile. You can add lockable saddle bags and carriers to make it more of a urban shopper vehicle. And I'd also think that bigger wheels would be safer on rough pavement.

This thing sure looks high tech and modern, though.
