argh I hate Craigslist
Trying to sell a brand new Roku.
The same seller emails me, calls me, and then texts me all to offer me 1/2 what I was asking.
He thinks I am going to bend over backwards to go out in this weather for 1/2 of my asking price?

Agreed to meet a party responding to my craigslist ad. He shows up at the appointed time and place with cash in hand -- 1/4 of what I was asking. He was willing to pay full price for ONE of the set of FOUR tires I was selling! sheez

I allow potential buyers only one way to contact me, through the Craigslist email. If I don't like the email for any reason I just ignore it.

I use my "throw away" phone for Craigslist so I didn't mind the 3 attempts.
What I do mind is the lowballing.
I ignored him after the lowball, but it still grates on my nerves.
I'd rather donate the item than sell it to him at 1/2 price.

Stuck to my guns. I refused to budge on my FULL price but offered to let him take 4, 3, 2 or even 1 tire at that price. He took the set of four

No. Easy to be scammed. Just go to their forums and read about it.
The buyer keeps the item and gets his money back.

I call BS on this one. I've been buying and selling on eBay for almost 16 years. There has to be more to the story.

I have sold a few thousand items on Ebay over the past 17 years and had ONE outright scammer. Ebay could tell it was a scam and I was made whole with very little effort on my part. Have sold tens of thousands of dollars of items with no problem. Ebay is the best place to sell small items that are easy to ship. Not good for large or breakable items.

Everybody wants a price cut on Craigslist. I automatically list for 25% more than I want, then just give them 25% off. They are happy, I'm happy and some suckers pay the full price.

I was selling an original oil painting from a very well known local painter. A guy offered me $10 for it. Then when I did not respond to his email offer, he emailed me back and basically, said "Don't be offended, we are just looking for a real bargain." Umm.. he was looking for a sucker. So....
I gave it to a charity I support and it went for over $200 in an auction. The income tax deduction was more than what he offered. And a good cause was helped.

Agreed with eBay, too. I have tens of thousands of sale, and never a problem. Ship after payment and no refund.

Craigslist works, but you have to endure the "crap"
"Your price is too high" - By people who never saw the item.
If the price is too high don't buy it.
Real people are also there and you just have to wait for them.

If you don't ask, you don't get. There is no obligation to pay an asking price (Think used car buying) On the other hand, sellers have an equal right to say no. As a seller, I don't get offended, but I also don't go out of my way to help buyers get the best deal that they can get.

I'm the opposite. Once I say No, I don't like to be nagged. But lowballing is a,sport for some folks and is expected.
