Atlantic City closed!

Wow, just, wow. That's a lot of money to lose because lawmakers can't get a budget together. $1.3 million a day in tax revenue alone. So when people talk about the risk of an investment, things like the government shutting down their biggest revenue makers probably doesn't get factored in too often! :P

You would think that a couple Jersey wise guys with paper bags of cash could fix this problem before nightfall.

Around here you can still start a fistfight by mentioning a combative governor who in 2001 dared the public school teachers to start a strike. That was pretty expensive too.

Remember when Newt Gingrich took the hit for shutting down the federal govt in 1996?

When I think of a government shutting down, I'm reminded of that Simpsons bit where Lionel Hutz says "imagine a world without lawyers," and pictures everybody happy, dancing and free.

If only they'd make it permanent!
