I like photographic art as well, but there is something to be said for imagination and ink or paint.

Yeah well that A-Hole made a lot of woman much more comfortable. All is not lost however, Stirrup hose give you the same look as the garter belt bit and are much more comfortable. Then there are the lace top thigh highs which are great too.

My mother's cousin was an Ann Rand dancer, she was the gal featured on a program cover (one of which I have) and many theater billboards. She also danced in films of the era. Married the CFO of the Cincinnati Symphony. A graceful and sweet woman. Was doing yoga well into her 90s.

This discussion just reminded me that I have an old Vargas calendar from the 40s packed away somewhere. It's complete and in good shape. I think it was my dad's. Looks something like this.

"Strawberry Bitch" is the B-24D on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton. I'm very happy that my service has resisted calls to rename her for the sake of political correctness.

Not so fast. Before they got new engines, the KC-135 was known as "The Silver Sow"...

I can't believe you guys used to get excited over this stuff. Now with all the explicit stuff on the Internet, I can't imagine even getting mildly worked up.

USS JIMMY CARTER (SSN-23)
USS HENRY M. JACKSON (SSBN-730)
USS GLENARD P. LIPSCOMB (SSN-685)
USS L. MENDEL RIVERS (SSN-686)
USS RICHARD B. RUSSELL (SSN-687)
USS WILLIAM H. BATES (SSN-680)

Hmmm... tough choice... I think I'd rather go to sea on the USS SILVER SOW than be known as a steely-eyed killer of the deep aboard the mighty USS GLENARD P. LIPSCOMB. Or, as it was more popularly called in its liberty ports, "The what?!?"

I never even would've heard of Messrs Lipscomb, Bates, or Russell if it wasn't for their namesakes. And I heard plenty about Rivers' legendary drinking binges.

I doubt that anyone ever got excited by these things. There was always real pornography, though it was often illegal and hard to come by, and there were always real girls willing to get you excited and help you with that too. I think even for us old farts a night at the Drive-In with Bobbi Lynn usually had a lot more appeal than some picture.

This kind of thing is more an art form I think.

Ha

The glamour queen was my pin-up type. Yup, I'll take that...haha!
Ironic that the subject of pin-ups came up today. I was just on the net yesterday looking up old Vargas pin-ups. I love 'em.
