Oh yeah, I've seen then.
Do I really need to spell out why the wives (and therefor the husbands) like doing this?
I believe that by explaining it I may get the thread locked
Also, I do believe this does have something to do with the fact that women have been doing it for so long, they're just happy to make their husbands go through the same thing

Re: BodyGrooming
The shaved look was fashionable back when I was in Saluki9's age group, too. Main thing I remember is that when the hair starts growing back in, it gets quite itchy and scratchy. I'm afraid I gave up quickly. May be the reason you have never seen me on the cover of GQ.

Re: BodyGrooming
I really can't believe you guys are serious...
Maybe it is a geographic thing--could there be any real southern boys that would shave them...and then TALK about it ? Listen, the guys I know wouldn't waste that much time on personal hygiene in a million years. I mean, these guys kill things with guns for a hobby! Shave their balls---never! I mean, except for the gay guys, who always look very put-together and smell nice. Unless I have majorly underestimated the metrosexual movement, I think we are safe from this practice in Charleston, Astro!

Re: BodyGrooming
My 28 year old daughter was just telling me about this "activity" the other day. Seems that men and women of that age catagory expect this type of grooming in the opposite sex. Frightening! It must be like sitting on a porcupine!

Wow, that must have been an interesting conversation!
Yes, people of both sexes in this demographic do expect it. Much more on the womans part than the mans. Also, not that I have checked, but I don't think most guys are cutting down to the skin. It's more like a hedge trimming

Re: BodyGrooming
well let's just say that if you shave your nuts it does increase the sensation when a tongue rolls across 'em.
And if you at least trim up a bit, it does make certain things look larger. An oak tree stands much more impressive after you've cleared all the vines and weeds and undergrowth from around it.

Well, there goes the metrosexual couth factor!
I guess that "virtual inch" comment was a bit too subtle...

Subtle, or stubble... :P
Hey, I'm a hairy guy, so I trim the shrubbery occasionally, but no razors allowed in that particular region. I don't even like shaving my face...

Re: BodyGrooming
I think our demographic must be changing on this board. The last time we had a poll about grooming, as I remember the consensus was that we couldn't be bothered to gets a haircut; shaves(of the face mind you) were maybe weekly; and baths tended to be as needed.
I'll start shaving my balls when the hair down there goes gray, and not before.*
I have a friend who is a professional waxer. She says the male crotch waxing is called a “manzilian”, a takeoff I suppose from the famed Brazilian Strip on the lassies that we know and love so well from porn. She also says that if you wax, you had better like it, because eventually the hair doesn't grow back very fully.
I have a book of old pornographic photos mostly from France in the 1890s and early 20th C. Wow, those girls sported bushes that the gardeners at Versailles would have been proud of. And compared to today's ideal, they had some hefty hips and thighs too.
Ha

Bwaahahahahahahahaa.. that's awesome.
I was watching MTV once... very briefly. *I heard it called "Manscaping"...
I am in that 27-32 demographic.. and I am SOOOOO out of touch. *Not to mention extremely metrosexually challenged.

Yeah, but some women also have landing strips. Are we going to imitate that too? Let's just say that I think that creating a landing strip on"uneven grounds" can be challenging.

Re: BodyGrooming
urgh. With ladies's legs (etc.).. the promise is all "smooth and silky" but the reality is stubble, ingrown hairs, infected follicles.. yuck!* Leg waxing is painful enough; I can't even begin to imagine ball-waxing
yes saluki9, please explain the appeal --for the wives-- (beyond the retribution aspect).

me, too
Are these "styles," fads, what have you, started by porn? Similar to the saggy/baggy pants look started by ill-fitting prison clothes (or is that an urban legend)?
