This looks like a great printer with lots of good comments, but it does not appear to have a scanner function. Now that I am retired, I seem to need that feature every couple months.

I understand your comment. but I am leery of multi-function machines. I have a Canon scanner that is maybe an inch thick that fits under my desk. I have a Brother laser B&W printer that I really like.
The scanner software can either copy, print, or OCR the document.

If I need a scanned document, I snap a picture of it with my smartphone. There are several free apps that will let you adjust the photo to make the document square, with even edges, etc.

Darn, that was gone fast. I have one I bought years ago and was ready to buy one for when my cartridge runs out. Just swap em back and forth and extend their lifecycle and always have a ready backup. These are excellent printers for cranking out B&W stuff. At $50 they are (or were) a steal.

I've gotten a lot of use from this Canon:
https://www.amazon.com/Canon-ImageCL.../dp/B001EWDXO8
Never a problem. It is USB connected to my main system through USB, and shared.

No longer available, I see wireless models, so choose wisely.
When I purchased my model, Staples gave me a $50 credit for bringing in an old one. Can't remember the price from that time. It was probably 5 years ago or more.

I bought this same printer about 1 year ago. For daily black and white printing it is hard to beat. No copier or scanner, but I never use that stuff since i quit work anyway. Easy enough to print to pdf for anything that needs to be sent electronically.

I recommend this printer and the ink cartridge lasts forever.

I had a Brother 'all-in-one' laser printer for about 10 years now and it still works great, have seen them on sale for $90. Worth the extra $'s IMO even if the copy/scanner functions are only occasionally used.

They show up in Best Buy's "Deal of the Day" fairly often, and occasionally in their weekly ad. Staples will sometimes have them at this price, but watch Best Buy if you want one soon. Subscribe to Deal of the Day if you like bargains. Most of the items are not interesting or useful, but occasionally a really good deal shows up.

Included Duplex Printing feature looks interesting and the consumables (ie toner) seem to be available at a reasonable cost from third parties.

Note this printer appears to be a USB printer -- not a LAN printer. May be an issue for households with multiple laptops etc.
