133...134...whatever it takes!
In truth, you probably wouldnt ever notice the difference unless you were doing continuous complex math calculations or massive video format transforms.
Either way, you'd be leaving the computer and going to get a couple of cocktails before it'd be done.
Our of our three machines, two have the higher speed ram and the other doesnt. Cant say that I see any difference to the naked eye.
That 2ghz core 2 duo machine with 3 gigs of ram will pretty much fly. Only downsides to it are 10/100 network (no Gbit), a 5400rpm hard drive instead of 7200 (you might never notice), an older style 5-in-1 card reader that I dont think does SDHC, and a 1280x800 screen. Hard to beat for the price if you arent looking for a gaming system or something to do heavy duty work on. As a replacement for almost any 2-3+ year old machine its a screamer.
Havent been big on Gateway's in the past because the quality sucked and it looked like they might go out of business. But since Acer bought them the quality is good and they're pretty solid financially.
Same machine from Dell would be about a hundred bucks more.

If anybody is looking at buying a computer or other electronic goodie. I highly recommend checking out these two sites for online coupon codes.
http://www.techbargains.com/
and
http://www.xpbargains.com/
I was all set to buy a computer via costco.com when I found a 30% off coupon for HPs online store.

the cheaper slower cards are not recommended though if you are shooting action shots in a relativley fast shooting camera. the difference in card speed is very apparent in my nikon d300 as it can shoot up to 8 frames a second but once the buffer fills the camera stops until it writes the info.
when shooting action that wait is like eternity sometimes. i ended up dumping the cheapie throw in 8 gig card that came with the camera and bought a sandisk extrem iv and the wait is a fraction of what it was.

And if you need a little more storage and dont mind a little more footprint, how about an 80GB seagate USB 2.0 drive for $19 or a 120GB unit for $29?
Direct from seagate, 5 year warranty...

If you're interested, I wouldnt think about this until tomorrow or even for a couple of hours. Its going to sell out realllly fast. Stupidly cheap for a couple of good little drives.

...and they just put the 250GB freeagent on sale for $39.
http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.js...00f5ee0a0aRCRD
Unfortunately I already have about 8 external drives and I'd be a nuts to buy another one.
By the way, these prices include shipping.
For comparative purposes, Costco sells a 250gb drive of inferior quality to this and with a one year warranty for $113.

If you had 21021 less posts, I would have flagged this as spam. Still, good deal.
