I like Busch Light. Actually like the taste. Also I use it to make an economical version of a Bloody Mary - Beer, salt, pepper and Spicy V8 Juice. Or you can salt a glass, mix beer and Rosie's lime juice for a redneck Margarita!

Ah, yes, pounders. We used to get returnable Gennessee Cream Ale pounders in college. Little Kings, too. Wonder if they even make the latter.
If I am going to buy cheap stuff, we usually buy the "better" box wine. Some of the Fish Eye and Black Box etc.) wines are quite drinkable and much easier to pack in the camper than bottles, kegs, etc.

I find most of the Shiners beer varieties to be a nice comprimise between the heavy and more expensive micros and wimpy major brewery brands. Though my favorite summertime beer is Coors Light.

I usually get Coors when I am budget minded.

Yuengling - we often have it in the kegerator (however, New Years and the Superbowl party tapped it!)

I'm a light med drinker myself. Usually Miller Lite, Bud Light or Coors Light. I was in the grocery store the other day and Busch Light was on sale so I bought a 12 pack. Taste just as good as the other light meds IMO.

Haven't been a beer guy for 15-20 years. Did see that Walgreens is coming out with their own private brand called "Flats something", and it will sell for $2.99 a six-pack. Both sons-in-law are big beer snobs, so I'll be stocking a few sixes just to mess with them. Back in the 60's, a case of 24 returnable bottles of Falls City cost us 4 bucks.

Couple of years ago, some brewery ran ads to educate us how to drink beer: the point was to pour a big head and let it settle off before drinking, that is, decarbonate first. Not sure if the ads are ongoing.
Their focus groups must have told them that lots of us find more than one beer or so to be too much to stomach. I have to pace myself with beer if I don't want to feel bloated for hours.

Me too. I have to pace myself with any kind of alcohol anyway as I'm quite a lightweight.
My cheap beer of choice is Trader Joes' "Simpler Times". It comes as lager or pilsner (I prefer the lager) for $2.99 for a six-pack. It would last me a long time if my SO weren't a whole lot better at drinking than myself!

I'll try to beat braumeister to the punch - pilsner is most definitely a lager.
As he pointed out earlier, lager and ales are determined by the yeast and style of fermenting. Pilsners are specific styles of Lagers (and an interesting history at that, from Pilsen Czechoslovakia a glass-making town). If a beer is simply labeled "Lager", they just aren't going further to define a style.
It would be like saying "red wine" without specifying still, sparkling, varietal, or any other information.

You got it, no contest. I never cared for punch.

The days of cheap good beer are gone forever, IMO. However, the closest I can come to it these days is a case of Dark Horse High Gravity Lager, for $8.99 a case of 24 twelve ounce cans. It's the cheapest beer in the store, and that makes it taste soooooo good.

Did some consulting recently with the producer of Little Kings.
It's still very popular. Distribution in over 40 states, I believe.

Budweiser American Ale is surprisingly good for about $10 for a 12 pack here in Fl. Otherwise Yuengling or Killians for about the same price. If Sam Adams is on sale, I'll buy that. Michelob Pale Ale also isn't bad. Miller Lite, Bud Lite, etc. just don't cut it for me. Before I moved to FL, Saranac Pale Ale was my go to beer, but it costs a fortune ($9/6 pack) for someone who LBYM.

Used to drink cheap, but now it is one of those luxuries that I allow myself. Blue Moon on draft is one of my favorites.
Maker's Mark, Knob Creek, and Woodford Reserve are my favorite bourbons. Relatively expensive, but oh so good......
