Chinese Rug Symbol?
We’ve had a deep pile wool hand knotted Chinese rug for almost 40 years. Just dawned on me I don’t know what the featured symbol is in the center, if we ever knew. Pic below, no idea what’s right side up. I’ve searched online for Chinese rug symbols, characters, motifs, etc. with no luck, and viewed hundreds of images without finding a useful match. I did find the exact same symbol on another Chinese rug image online, but just an image with no explanation. Since this is one of the most resourceful audiences I know of - any ideas, other than go to a dealer and ask?

I think it means "hand wash, warm. Dry flat. Do not dry clean"

It is probably a stylized ideogram, derived from ancient Chinese, for long life or prosperity. Also I suspect the photo is sideways.

I consulted one of my friends, whose name is Google. Here's what I found:

Shou symbol = "long life"
And yes, it's sideways.

The Chinese surely have a long life; look how long it takes to write out the word longevity. They can afford to do things leisurely.
