Computer help needed - how to test the fan?

I've searched the web and Lenovo's site but I can not find out the answer to my question.

I have a Lenovo N100 3000 notebook - works great.

I think the fan might be broken but I can not find out how to test it or find out if it is broken.

At home I used to hear it go on and off but I haven't heard it for awhile and I'm getting concerned.

I'm running Window's XP professional, with the Intel duo 1.66 processor.

Any help?
Thanks

Have you tried Speedfan?

not sure if its compatible with the lenovo laptops, but it should be
SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

It may be clogged with dust.

I tried speedfan - the fan didn't show up on the program.

Ahh...sorry...I havent used it in a while...if its not compatible with a lenovo slab he must not be keeping it up.

Have you booted into the bios settings? Many of the lappies i've used showed the fan speed and any fault codes somewhere in the settings. Does IBM provide any diagnostic disks? My last stinkpad had a diag cd.

No Diag. CD but PC Dr - I ran it and nothing unusual showed up.

R. Wood - I'll try the version you pointed me to
