Sorry, you all are some of my adopted market researchers. when looking for a service provider (plumber, duct cleaner, etc) or a company in general....and you have none particular in mind...where do you go to find them?

Does anyone use yellowpages.com??

I ask around, but if I don't get any recommendations then I go to the paper yellow pages.

How archaic!

No, it's an independent phone company. Their online yellow pages is essentially the same as their paper version, so I use whichever is more convenient. They do a nice job and the few times I looked it seemed better than the national yellow page companies.

Not me. I use paper yellow pages and I also just google the place I'm interested in or the kind of store or service... A typical search might be "carpet cleaning, my town"

It's more important that the store has a website with contact info, location and hours on the front page of the site. Then I want them to actually answer the phone - no recordings.
