Docking with Russian Submarine.

The BBC shows a rescue docking exercise with a Russian sub.

BBC News - Russians join Nato submarine rescue drill

May have to got to the BBC website for video to play.

The Kursk's crew could have been saved by this method. Though the Russians prefer that no one gets to talk.

Neat video-- thanks. Interesting to see history being made.

While technically capable, there were a number of issues with the KURSK disaster. IIRC the sub was heeled over at least 30 degrees, which makes the mating process very difficult. Topside weather & sea state were pretty nasty too.

Even if the rescue vehicles had been anchored over the exercise position when the KURSK went down, it's not certain that they could have pulled it off.
