"Everyday" HD discounts
I'm passing this on to all military folks for what it's worth.
In the past both HD and Lowe's have had military discounts on Memorial day/Independence day weekends. The ad below (from the Home Depot website) indicates Everyday Savings so I assume that all you need to do is flash your ID card at the check-out counter and collect your 10% off. I also assume that if you go back tomorrow and pick up something else you will also get the discount.

††Redeemable for a 10% discount on a single receipt in-store purchase at The Home Depot® U.S. stores only. Maximum discount $200. Present valid military ID to cashier at time of purchase to receive your discount. Offer does not apply to installation products or services or to John Deere, Cub Cadet®, Honda, Toro®, Echo®, Little Giant Ladder Systems,® Dacor,® Viking,® Fisher & Paykel,® Sharp Insight,™ Delonghi,® Buckhaven, Weber, Lynx, Alfresco, OCI, Marvel, Bertazzoni, Aga, and Vent-A-Hood products and trade styles and cannot be combined with any other offer.

i appreciate everything those in the armed forces do, so i'll let you in on a secret.
every moving pack at a US post office has a 10% off at lowe's coupon (unless someone has gone through and picked them out). HD also honors their competitors coupons. well, at least in the big cities. my parents live in a town where they only have a HD, they didn't bite on the lowe's coupon.
thanks for serving.

I've gotten a 10% discount 365 days a year at both Lowes and HD with my Retired ID for the last several years in NY, CT, FL and VA. Just ask the cashier for the military 10%. Only had a problem once and the store manager cleared it up.

Funny how this timing works out... a couple weeks after Lowes' permanent 10% military discount.
Last night we were buying five doorknobs (after dining out). We happened to be closer to HD so we stopped there first. As Murphy would have it, the model we wanted was sold out at HD and they couldn't be bothered to check the pallets up top. Luckily Lowes had what we were looking for.

I don't know if this is all Lowes stores or just our Waikele branch, but they do not accept manufacturer's coupons. Every time I try to buy a bag of salt, they won't take the Diamond coupon.
But apparently now they'll give me 10% off.
