Favorite Non-FIRE-Like Website?

I often comment to myself that I have reached the end of the internet. Obviously, I haven't, but at times I have a hard time finding new and intriguing sites. So...what is your favorite? A URL and short description would be great!

The latest I came across and have enjoyed is:

Wait But Why

Hard to describe since it's all over the map. I would compare it to Reader's Digest for the internet.

At the risk of being politically incorrect one of my favorite sites is: NY Firearms | Dedicated to the ownership, laws, and politics of firearms and weapons in New York State.

Thanks, that site looks really random, and that can be a good thing. It gets you exposed to stuff you might not search out on your own. I bookmarked it.

Here's one that I look to for various things:

Phys.org - News and Articles on Science and Technology

I'm usually going from my google news page, but since that is customized to my interests, sometimes I'm missing things.

I would occasionally walk through the library randomly, or just check the 'new books' section, as that would bring up things that I might not search out.

Yes, youtube takes me all over with semi-random connections. I always laugh when I'm watching some really odd but fascinating video, and there is some comment like "OMG, it's 4AM, I've been on youtube for 5 hours straight, what am I doing watching this video? How did I get here? I can't stop! HELP!!!!"

One that perked my interest is Live Science: Scientific News, Articles and Current Events

Just read something about the invention of the bicycle. Good history.

For me it is 500PX.com. It fits in with my primary hobby of photography. I like to see what photos the other people put up as well as post my own.

I must have a hundred of "special interest" sites that I regularly follow:

Here are a few that come to mind:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/SethRobertsCommunity/

Penelope Trunk Careers

Ben Bernanke's Blog

FEMEN – FEMEN Official Blog (NSFW but powerful message)

Humans of New York

"Wait But Why" is also on my list.

A few I've liked:

For answers to various subject area questions like on Black Holes or economic ideas or ...
https://www.quora.com/Getting-Starte...-What-is-Quora

For some amount of depth on the latest market driven events:
Bloomberg.com

For awareness of security issues on the internet especially:
http://krebsonsecurity.com/

Some dude who is fairly smart and blogs on stock market ideas (in great detail):
PHILOSOPHICAL ECONOMICS

Set up some of your favorite comic strips for daily lightheartedness by creating a personal "my comic" page. Or just do random sampling:
GoComics.com - Your source for the best online comic strips around.

Here is an interesting site that I just discovered:

Metrocosm

try, for example, this graphic:
