Freegal Music

The L.A. County Library now offers free digital music downloads for cardholders.

Limit is 3 songs per week and it is from the Sony Music catalogue. Between my wife and I we've got half the new Jimmie Vaughan album this week, and we'll get the rest next week.

Pretty huge selection, you can sample first, simple set-up. All around a good deal.
We are, as I have said, one equation short. Keynes

Interesting that there is no DRM. I would have expected these to time out after 3 weeks or so.

Is it a 'good deal' though? How much is the library paying for this? Is it really 'fair' to collect taxes for this, when some people would never download music? Why should everyone pay for entertainment that some people want?
