Hotel in continuous operation over 1300 years, by 52 generations of one family

If you admire businesses with staying power, this may interest you. And continuously run by the same family for 52 generations. Well managed I’d guess.

Quote:
Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is a hot spring hotel in Hayakawa, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 705 AD, it is the oldest hotel and one of the oldest companies in operation. In 2011, the hotel was officially recognised by the Guinness World Records as the oldest hotel in the world. It has been continuously operated by 52 generations of the same family (including adopted heirs) for over 1,300 years.

And the upstart that opened later, 718 AD. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hōshi_Ryokan

This needs to be cross referenced with the thread about buying a new mattress.
