...there is a wonderful webcam at a German tracking station in Antarctica. The penguins have just returned to the grounds after being gone during their winter. According to the site, the first eggs were laid on Saturday.

These are Gentoo penguins, not the same type as were in the March of the Penguins (Emperor), but they are neat to look at nonetheless. The site is at: http://www.martingrund.de/pinguine/

Cool site! I've always been fascinated by Antarctica. Hope to go there some day before it gets too touristy.

The penguins don't seem to have any problem with or fear of the man-made items in their environment.

They don't have any problems with the humans themselves, either. Occasionally, the webcam will catch some of the workers walking among them virtually unnoticed.

Wow, how interesting. Somehow I thought all animals would run from humans. I guess they have never been hunted, so never developed that reaction?

I have to go rent that March of the Penguins movie again, that was so amazing!
