So interesting that her mother only told her about it when she was 8 years old. It is easy to forget that there were real, courageous people aboard that ship, who sacrificed their own lives to ensure the survival of family as well as total strangers.

My grandma told me her mom told her it was the "saddest day in history". Later, her mom referred to Pearl Harbor Day as the "worst day in history"............
