Ok... smartphone is, for us, a necessary item so we don't worry about getting the cheapest possible.
That said, for many reasons Apple Iphone seems to have lost it's voodoo with me after all these years , so I dumped Apple 6 a little over a month ago and switched to Sammy S7 (not the flammable model).
Conclusions are that Samsung is:
Faster
Much longer battery, fast wireless charge via charge station
More storage - 32gb intern + 64gb SD card
Camera is miles and miles superior
Phone is just fine with me, no problems
Synchs easily with my Imac, Ipad via free Airdroid app
Lots of apps in play store
As easy as Apple to set up, customize and use
YMMV
Anyone want to buy a used Apple 6? (just kidding...already got $150 for it on Gazelle)

I have had only iPhones since they first came out, until January. My iPhone 5S was not working well and the cost of a newer iPhone from Verizon is getting insane.

Now I have an LG Spree phone that I got for free when I switched from Verizon to Cricket. It's amazing! Voice communications are so much clearer and easier to understand, for both parties, and texting is so easy on my LG phone.

I think a lot of people are starting to ditch their iPhones this year and trying new, less expensive phones.

My iPhone 5S is sitting right here in the box it came in, years ago. I restored it to its initial condition, and should probably sell it.

In December I switched from a Samsung Galaxy S 2 that I had for many years to a Lenovo Moto 4G Play that cost me ~$100... by far the best phone that I have ever had... fast, easy to use, great battery life ... no complaints if you are looking for an affordable, good phone and having top of the line isn't important to you. I have it paired with a unlimited talk/text, 1GB data plan from Airvoice wireless that is $30/month.

Interesting, my daughter switched to a Samsung phone and now back to Apple. Originally her claim is to learn how to program Android. But it turned her Samsung phone was too big for her hand and she was developing some hand problem. It was a huge phone, I dont remember exactly which because I was just a credit card.

I bet it was the Edge.. those things are huge!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Best phone I have ever had.

Apple Jail verses Samsung Freedom.... Priceless.

I just made this exact decision 1 week ago. S7 it is.
