Hello there. i am 62 and am looking at starting social security early.
i have a disabled stepchild (14 yr old) and the child benefits for that along with the child in care spousal benefits, makes it beneficial for me to start social security now. we provide at least 50% of his support so that should qualify us for child benefits under my SS.
i confirmed this on opensocialsecurity.com calculator.
Is there any kind of means testing involved with applying for these child benefits other than earned income?
we are both retired and so we don't have any earned income, just dividends or withdrawals from our vanguard accounts.
