Just kidding - here's to all of us poor suckers still breaking rocks in the quarry.
May we find all our way to FIRE sooner rather than later.

As an "old phart" (of SS age, and retired), take it easy today and celebrate.
Heck, if it was not for you and your cohorts we "Q-Tips" could not have the security of programs such as SS/Medicare.
No different than my situation "back in the day", when my (labor) taxes paid for benefits for my retired parents/grandparents.
I (at least me ) appreciate your "sacrifice".

Labor Day brings a smile to my face as I had to remind myself "Oh yeah, it is a holiday today, isn't it?" . Funny when others not retired express, "Thank goodness, a long weekend" when for those retired, that's the pleasure every day.

Labor Day, like other major Monday holidays such as Memorial Day, means no mail deliveries, no Monday night dancing, and many other places closed (i.e. libraries, banks).
But my ladyfriend who works full-time gets a day off so we were out and about all day Sunday, what we consider the "free" day because she doesn't have to get up today.

It took me a few years after FIRE to remember that 3 day weekend holidays no longer meant scrambling to plan a trip, board the dogs, have a day to unpack and recover, dread the alarm clock, yadda yadda yadda.
For the still w*rking folks, keep your eye on the ball (FIRE).
And thank you for being the backbone of our country.

Dw and I had a brief discussion about Labor Day this AM and decided that it was established for "organized labor" and since neither of us have ever been in a union, decided that it was sorta like non-veterans celebrating veterans day. We then had 2 cups of coffee each.

It's important to remember these national holidays so that we can hunker down at home and avoid the crowds.
I'll also have to put away my white shoes until after Memorial Day...

As one of the w*rking folks, I'm still counting down - only 24 more days! I just hope that I can train my dogs to sleep a little later in the morning, so I can too!
