In celebration of the Year of the Rooster, I just whipped up a big batch of Coq au Vin (Yummy Yummy). I used Alton Brown's recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show..._36652,00.html and it's just fantastic.

The Alton Brown Coq Au Vin is a staple in our house! It is excellent and easy (sometime we are too lazy to do the pearl onions or they are not available and we just substitue regular chopped onions. The pearl onions make it more "special occassion".

Alton Brown is my husband's hero...he is the chef for engineers and scientists.

Damn and I've been ordering those professional coq au vin kits that come in the giant cardboard box with the picture of the french chef on it.

I used to make coq au vin on hiking trips as our first meal out. Its a lot easier than most recipes make it out. Altons version is a pretty good one!
