Link TV
Does anyone watch this? (DirecTV satellite channel 375)
I just "found" this channel & watched about 2 hours. WOW! Just WOW!
Bill Moyers spoke @ the National Conference for Media Reform held in Memphis in Jan. 07.
C/P from the website LinkTv.net:
Their goal? In the very broadest sense, it is to take back the media from the mega-companies that now control most of what we see, hear and read. And ultimately to strengthen the third pillar of democracy -- the independent press.
We have been fed such a load of crap by our gov't, at a minimum about the Iraq War, & ALL the media is so much controlled that we no longer have our guaranteed "free press". I believe our democracy is threatened by the media moguls.
From what I've seen this is indeed a "breath of fresh air".
Check out the channel, or if you can't get it, check the website.

Re: Link TV
I too really appreciate this channel. It is a not for profit. The parts of the world it covers aren't well represented by our media.
It is interesting to watch the news reports (translated) from the middle east, for example. Agree or not, we must start to consider their issues. The channel makes it quite clear whether the broadcaster is from state-run media or not. BTW, the middle east is not the only area covered.
There are English versions of print media on the web too but they are much like our own newspapers, they don't go into depth on social issues as Link does.

Re: Link TV
I watch it almost everyday. It's indeed a breath of fresh air and most importantly it tells it like it is with no corporate interest. The rest of the media is about telling people what it thinks they like to hear and what would not offend their corporate interests and viewership. It's not about real journalism. In fact, from watching the rest of the media one would think the world consists only of 5 countries - US, Iran, Israel, North Korea and Iraq. It's no wonder the rest of the world consider us dumb Americans.

You forgot Britney Spears. She must be a country given the attention that she gets. Sadly, I don't get Link TV but it sounds good.

Having watched TV news all over the world, I can't understand why we'd get excited about watching foreign TV news. It's like trying to decide which score is better-- 3.4 or 3.5 out of 10.
I can barely sit still for a PBS documentary or a DVD, let alone TV news channels. OTOH a good book or a "chewy" magazine like The Economist or Scientific American will keep me happily immobilized for hours.
Almost as long as reading & posting on this board...

I've supported LINK TV for several years.
If you haven't already, check out Free Speech TV, also available on Direct TV.

Re: Link TV
Checked Free Speech TV website, looks like it's only on DISH, not DirecTV satellite.

Re: Link TV
My favorite channel. Did you recently see "Where have all the Billions Gone?" Great show, but will really make you mad.
They are asking veiwers to call their PBS and request they carry "Democrocy Now"
I wish more people could get this station and their wonderful programing. I am so glad to see there are more viewers out there amongst you guys. So call your local PBS station and tell them you want programing like this. We need more people to see this stuff.
