Meaning of Fluorescent Bulb No.?
One of the under-cabinet bulbs burned out. The markings on the bulb are F13T5/830/L . I get the impression the 13 might be watts, the T5 denotes the
smaller base.......don't know what the 830 and L are. If the replacement is
just designated F13T5 w/o the other numbers/letters, is it ok to use as replacement?

ah so, good find.....thanks. so T means tubular and 5 means 5/8" dia.......didn't exactly know that but assumed it meant something about the base size; 830 refers to color temp apparently, still don't know what the L is ?

Guessing "L" is for lumens.
Color temp is more likely to be something like 2000-4000.

The link above has a table with numbers that appear to be bins for color temps......the format will prob come out goofy but you can figure it out:
4 colums of data
Numeric color code/ Color/Approximate CRI/ Color temperature (K)
827 Warm white ~85 2700
835 White ~85 3500
841 Cool white ~85 4100
850 Sunlight ~85 5000
865 Cool daylight ~85 6500
880 Skywhite ~85 8000

On all the fluorescent bulbs I've ever bought, the number after the F is the length in inches. The wattage is stamped elsewhere on the bulb.

This one is 21" which seems to match some of those I google up .......for sure,
it's not 13". Were those the smaller T5's you're thinking of?

About 5 inches in circumference = 5 / 3.14 ~ 1.6 inches in diameter
