More Gen-X Social Security woes?

A fellow Gen-X'er in my office is having a kid, and I'm sitting here wondering if my generation is compounding its Social Security trouble by having fewer children, later in life. (I've seen studies to this effect but can't pull one out of the hat, or I'd link it.)

Here's my theory: our children are relatively new to the workforce when we're ready to start collecting benefits, and there are fewer of them to fund us. Two strikes.

Thoughts?

Ed

Re: More Gen-X Social Security woes?

I agree to some extent. Many boomers have no plans to retire (does not apply to the people on the ER forum) any time soon and I think to some extent closes doors to younger people. I think many boomers either don't have the money to retire and/or have a real need to accomplish and w/o work they have nothing left to accomplish. Make sense? Why delay? Give us a chance to fund your SS!!
