Does this man ever rest? He is on all sorts of talking head shows every day, and now another book. No ER for Pat. No R for Pat.

Pat Buchanan certainly is an isolationist, and his statements about immigration are over the top. We are not going to send all the illegals home. And we always have been a nation of squabbling nationalities.

Nevertheless his comments about class and racial divisions are always interesting and do highlight problems in our society.

Somehow he doesn't offend me and his willingness to take on his own party is kind of nice. Get those neocons out of power! Of course, I might not feel that way if I was in that party.

Well, he's certainly got energy. IMO, he is an angry man who just enjoys stirring things up and drawing attention to himself. He's useful to Democrats just as Nader is useful to Republicans.

I think commentators such as Buchanan, Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, and some of the others reflect the mood of the nation. The USA population is aging and as it does it has becomes risk adverse. As people age they become risk adverse in their finances; and many aspects of their lives. So expect more of it.

Historians have said that the issues from the 1930 on have been a discourse between the Roosevelt policies/thoughts/socialist and the individualistic policies that went before. There is even a book out not saying that the USA depression lasted so long because all the policy changes of the Roosevelt government provided an unstable enviorment for business so business didn't expand.

The Democratic and Republican parties are not that different which sets up the potential for a third party - see Perot 20% of the vote.

Bad times will excellerate the change.
