Poll: How hot are you?
It is 20 below and windy and I can't breathe outside so I am stuck here on the internet with you guys. Tell me, is it worse where you are? Better?
Our kitchen has a leaky window. I stuffed a towel between the window and sill but it still shows 25 degrees by the kitchen window:
Down by the lake which has been slow to freeze this year, it is working hard to freeze up:

It was so nice here today (sunny and in the upper 60's) that we had an afternoon pre-Superbowl cookout at our RV site out on the Guadalupe River. It was very, very nice. Back home now, watching the commercials game.

I want to hear from the people who are having between 30 and 50 below weather.
It hasn't been in the 40 below range here for a few years.
I see our state cold spot it supposed to get down to 46 below tonight. . .

It was -4 overnight, got way up to +7 today. It was really nice and sunny though. It is currently +1 and breezy, with a windchill of -18.
We were out and about off and on all day, it wasn't that bad out really. One of the churches in town puts on a community meal the 1st Sunday of every month, so we go there and visited with friends. Then our local library had a musician/story teller in this afternoon, so we went there and enjoyed the program then wandered around the library for a while. After we got home, I went out and checked our gardens and stuff for any winter or wind damage.
Supposed to get down to about -10 tonight with -23 to -28 windchills. Tomorrow....+3 with windchills -19 to -29.
Looks like winter may be here soon!!!

One more thing I forgot in my last post:
We went to a local city park along the Illinois River (which BTW, is pretty much frozen bank-to-bank) and watched the bald eagles!!! Awesome!!! (I watched 8 of them on Jan. 2nd, along the river where I w*ork).

Would have picked 0 but was not in the list so went with -10 as the next closest. Actually it is -2 now. Wind Chill around -20 tonight. At least it stopped snowing. It was nice outside this morning when the wind was calm.

Currently (9:16 PM) it's 18, expected low of 5 tonight, wind chills to -20. It doesn't usually get that cold here (eastern PA), so I guess I can't complain. At least I don't have to go out in it unless I really want to!

My brother is disabled and lives in a subsidized housing facility. Pipes broke this evening so they said they would put him up at a hotel. Greg picked him up and drove him to the hotel--no record at the hotel. Brought him here and we called his housing arranger, she says take him back to the hotel, it was all fixed. Greg dropped him off and went home. It wasn't arranged, they sent him to walk to another motel 6 blocks away. No hat, lousy jacket, 20 below and windy, and not mentally competent enough to do anything but walk down the street to the other motel. No space for him there. Thank God he called us. Greg picks him up, housing people say so sorry. He drives him to yet another motel which seems to be ok. We gave him a hat.
Frustrating.
(edit: Man, what if we hadn't been around? I could see him trying to walk from place to place and freezing to death. Criminey. We need to talk to his housing people)

Well, it was above freezing here in Cowtown today. Real nice outside. But when I got up it was 10 F (-13 C...that's C for Communist units ).
