Portable DVD Player

My nephew wants a portable DVD player, I'm in charge of buying it but I know nothing about them other than they play DVDs. Is there a brand I should stay away from and is there a price range or are they all over the place depending on the options of the machine?

Re: Portable DVD Player

I have a magnavox 7" (made by mintek....really Mintek 1710). Got it at wally world a couple of year ago....about $120. Plays great and has lasted thru lots of use. Don't see it a wally world anymore, but it is at amazon.

I'm looking at one, too, for our upcoming trip to Japan. How are these things on battery power? Can you get spare batteries?

Re: Portable DVD Player

The rechargeable battery that came with mine gets about 4 hours....and takes about that long to recharge. Replacements of the original battery are pricey. I bought this

as a spare. Works fine.
