I don't know how many of you know who Ellie Greenwich is but she wrote most of the Girl Group songs from the 60's. Google her and you'll be amazed the amount of songs she wrote. I had the pleasure of sitting next to her at an oldies concert about 10 years ago. She passes last August, sad.

I am not that old, but do know some of the songs posted here.

How about this one, "Tell Laura I Love Her"? It is certainly a classic, and was a hit in Europe in 1960 too.

Monica Bielanko is pretty talented at putting together videos. This is one of her 'oldies'.

Someone posted another version of this song on another thread. After my wife walked out on me I coldn't get this damn song out of my head. Sinatra seems to understand pain, and being left while you are still in love is about like having your tonsils ripped out while awake.

I had completely forgotten this song but heard it on an small market AM station a few months ago. I found it on utube and it has again become one of my favorites. Now I have started I'll probably post a dozen. Warning sometimes I have obscure tastes in music.

Wow! Master Jack what a wonderful song... and Singer.

Quote:
It's a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack.
You taught me all I know and I never look back.
It's a very strange world and I thank you, Master Jack.

You took a coloured ribbon from out of the sky,
and taught me how to use it as the years went by.
To tie up all your problems and make them believe.
And then to sell them to the people in the street.

It's a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack.
You taught me all I know and I never look back.
It's a very strange world and I thank you, Master Jack.

I saw right thru the way you started teaching me now.
So someday soon you could get to use me somehow.
I thank you very much you know you've been very kind.
But, I'd better move along before you change my mind

It's a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack
No hard feelings if I never come back
It's a very strange world and I thank you, Master Jack

You taught me all the things the way you'd like 'em to be.
But I'd like to see if other people agree.
It's all very interesting the way you describe
But I'd like to see the world thru my own eyes.

It's a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack.
No hard feelings if I never come back
You're a very strange man and I thank you, Master Jack.

You're a very strange man and I thank you, Master Jack.
You're a very strange man, aren't you, Master Jack?

Don't hear this one much. As Nords said, none of the radio stations are playing this stuff anymore. I guess I'll have to keep them alive myself.
