PSA: Save $8.62 Today On Amazon (sold by Amazon only)
Quote:
We are excited to report that for the second straight year, customers ranked Amazon #1 in the annual Harris Poll on corporate reputation. Harris surveys more than 23,000 people across six corporate reputation dimensions: Social Responsibility, Emotional Appeal, Products and Services, Vision and Leadership, Financial Performance, and Workplace Environment. We hit a new high-water mark for the 18-year-old survey with a record score of 86.27 and ranked in the top 10 for the ninth consecutive year. To say ‘thank you’, we are offering $8.62 off your purchase of $50 or more, for today only. Just insert the promo code BIGTHANKS at checkout. And, be assured, we’ll continue working hard for you every day.

It's interesting to see what the top 10 are on this list.
Of course, it comes the day after I stocked up on things that had dropped to my camelcamelcamel price points.

Is that promo code targeted?
I have an Amazon account and did not receive an email with it.

I wonder why $8.62 instead of some rounder number like $5 or $10. I got the email and thought that was junk mail at first. But looks like can find something to buy to save that $8.62. Thanks.

Because they were found to be 86.27% awesome.
Now if they wanted to give us an $86.27 discount, I wouldn't have complained either.

You might have to be a Prime member. I got to checkout and it said "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase." My order was 50.99. So I'll save my stockpile of consumables for when I need something that doesn't have free shipping.

LOL, if it's true that you have to have Prime then I guess they don't want to thank any customers unless they have Prime.

Maybe it has to be $50 before taxes?

Thanks for the clarification. I hate when I get too easily distracted and didn't read the entire paragraph of the email.

It could be that you had one or more items in your cart that weren't sold directly by Amazon. That's a requirement for this discount to apply.

I'm a Prime member. I just tried it and got the same message.
The problem: the two items I ordered are fulfilled by Amazon and Prime, not sold by Amazon.
Darn!

That worked, putting >$50 in stuff sold by Amazon. Sorry for the multiple posts. I can't delete or edit the other posts. I hit the Edit button and it just puts up 5 different font options (bold, underscore, etc) but no text at all to modify. The site continues to be very strange at times.
edit: And now I can edit this one (changed "fulfilled by Amazon" to "sold by Amazon".
second edit: Turns out I have to hit edit twice to edit or delete posts. Still very odd and not intuitive. Anyway, I deleted my previous two posts to avoid confusion.

I misread the subject line and thought, "Damn, amazon is offering prostate tests now?"
Anyhow, good on amazon. They are a great company.

Hmm. Don't really need anything now - wonder if buying a $50 Amazon gift card would work?
Thanks for the heads up - I do love saving money and discounts!

I don't have anything to buy anyway. Pffft to Amazon.
I might as well wait for the next $15 off $75 from eBay.

Thanks! I just bought $59 worth of lingerie with amazon.com listed as the seller, and the "BIGTHANKS" code worked for me. What a great discount!

Very nice. Thanks. It was time for dog food anyway. Wouldn't you know the dog food is $49.99. So I had to pull something up from my "save for later" list.

I've got Prime and I haven't received the email. I wonder why? But I don't need anything right now anyway.
