Put down your #2 pencils for a moment of silence

The creator of the ubiquitous Scantron system has passed away at the age of 85:

Michael Sokolski, creator of Scantron, dies at 85 | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

Quote:
The name Michael Sokolski might not be of the household variety, but if you've ever filled in the little bubbles of a standardized test with a No. 2 pencil, you're familiar with his work. Sokolski, the man who invented the Scantron test format, died earlier this month at the age of 85 of congestive heart failure. His memorial was held Thursday in Southern California.

Do I want to use them just spending it on more crap and more stuff, or do I want to start getting a handle on it and using my life more intelligently?" -- Joe Dominguez (1938 - 1997)

Brings back memories of grade school.
