Watership Down was the first 'novel' or huge book that I read growing up. I remember being fascinated by it. I was raising rabbits, as pets, at the time and could not help combining the two realities in my mind. I was hooked on reading ever since.
My DW is a school librarian and just said to me that she cannot get boys interested in reading it.

I did not know about Richard Adams or his works.

So, I looked at the linked article, saw the age at death being 96 and the only thing I could think of was "this man got more than his share of SS".

Then, I saw that he is British, and so do not know if their retirement system is like ours.
