Confused about dryer sheets
Does anyone know if I leave a CSRS (civil service) survivor benefit to my spouse. Will his Social Security payment be reduced because of the survivor benefit?

No, I don't believe so. He should be able to receive whatever SS benefit he is normally entitled to.

I am sure that under current rules it would not reduce SS, because it is not earned income. But you might want to reassure yourself 100% by asking your HR department, and OPM.

My understanding is that it runs the other way, you would not be able to get his Social Security payment in addition to your pension if he died before you.
