Not sure of the ominous significance of the latter - adding your age in a given year to the year you were born always results in the current year - duh! Just because they played a game by only using the last two digits to get it to come out to 111 has no meaning whatsoever.

If you add the whole year you were born to your age this year, the answer would be 2011 - wow! Spooky!
